The producer of Midsomer Murders asked if our club could help by providing period cars from the 1950s and 1960s. Of course, this was not a problem; members soon rallied round and we had the nine cars required. The first part of the filming took place at Popham Airfield in Hampshire and only involved the 1960 Lotus-Climax F1. The second session followed a couple of weeks later at Bearwood College in Berkshire; this was to be the location for the Midsomer Classic Car Show and here we had seven Lotus and one Bristol Special taking part. We all had to be ‘background’ and act in silence!
